Ou09.jpg (75177 bytes)r NCCA President Cecil Lowe died late Sunday night or early Monday morning. Cecil played in the Class B division at our District 4 this weekend in Lexington. His brother Fred who usually accompanies him and drives him to the tournaments was there also. He was 92 August 30, born in 1918. He tied for 6th place, and was lively as ever at the tournament, telling checker stories from the past. He loved checkers and promoted our NC tournaments. We elected Cecil to lead our organization on July 3, 1987 which he held this office until his death. Buck Smith vs Cecil Lowe Rd1G1.jpg (77491 bytes)

Fred told me Cecil said he had a pleasant time and enjoy this tournament very much. He was very satisfied with Larry and NC Checkers. He always enjoyed the fellowship and playing checkers. Lexington was like homecoming because of the home cooked dinners and the gathering of past friends and players. I have two pictures attached which you can see he is enjoying the tournament. I posted this on ACF Forum and got a link out to players via email.  http://www.usacheckers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16854#p16854LW Newsom vs Glenn Fuquay - Cecil Lowe watching.jpg (101207 bytes)
